Multiple sources confirmed tribe leaders are in talks with George Carney, owner of Raynham Park, a former greyhound racetrack reduced to simulcast betting when dog racing was banned in 2008.

Haynes, president of the Massachusetts AFL-CIO, filed testimony arguing the state should move forward with expanded gaming now. “We cannot continue to pass up this opportunity to create these kinds of jobs. And where else are we going to create jobs with such incredible potential to be good jobs? I have heard of few other ideas that have this much potential for the economy,” Mr. Haynes said.

The Western Massachusetts Casino Task Force supports state Sen. Stephen M. Brewer's call for an independent analysis of expanded gaming.
The task force, which is composed of 14 communities, first voiced its support of an independent analysis more than two years ago, and recently penned a letter to the members of the Massachusetts General Court in support of Brewer's recently filed legislation.
